Fly Fashion: That One Time I Brought a Bathing Suit that Couldn’t Get Wet + The Tea on Ordering from Pretty Little Thing

My wardrobe is all vacay clothes. Whenever I book a trip, it’s inevitable that I go shopping. A few weeks ago, I went to Montego Bay and I had to get more fits for my trip.

I always skim Pretty Little Thing’s site but before I went to Montego Bay, it was my first time ordering from the site. They have some really cute items. The PLT X Karl Kani collection with Teyana Taylor as the face sold out quickly. Like, too quick. Like, before, I got paid and could actually order from the collection, quick.

As, I was searching for fits for my trip, I decided on this hot pink high waist two-piece with matching choker. It’s super cute and I was in love as soon I opened my package. But as I was unpacking the bathing suit, there was a tag that said, “ Seriously hot sets not made for getting wet. Please note colour may run or item may become damage when wet.”

I was like, “huh?” What do you call a bathing suit that can’t get wet?

An outfit.

Look, I’m all for cute outfits that I can stunt in but I’m also practical af. I would not have purchased a $60 bathing suit for Montego Bay that can’t get wet. I actually like getting in the water and swimming.

I went back to Pretty Little Thing’s website to see if I didn’t read the fineprint of the swimsuit.  Apparently, it does say, “Chlorine may damage the product.”

But that isn’t the same verbiage that was the tag. An item that says, chlorine may damage the product doesn’t necessarily mean that it is “not made for getting wet.” That means, I can’t go in the pool with it but I can still can get the ocean.

I've never ordered a bathing suit before that can’t get wet. It was an epic fail.

My entire experience with ordering from Pretty Little Thing was a fail.

Ladies, if you order from them, expect your order to take 10 or more days to get to you regardless of what their shipping times tell you. I had more than enough time to get my order before my trip but I ended up having to cancel my order and reorder my outfits with next day shipping to ensure I would have them on time.

Their customer service sucks. Talking to me via Twitter doesn’t resolve my issues. I had to send a few items back because I lost weight and I don’t know my measurements anymore but then I had to pay to ship my items back!

And then, it takes 20 days to process your return and to refund your money. It was the most.

I may shop from them again but I’mma have to read all the fine print.

Fly Tip: Icon Swim has cute bathing suits that can definitely get wet.
