I got invited to the first Le Dîner en Blanc in Long Island. Apparently, I’m friends with the organizers (who knew?). All I know is that I got an email asking me to attend to the press release about the inaugural Le Dîner en Blanc in Long Island than another email inviting me to attend the dinner.
Initially, I was excited. I mean loads of people want to attend the Le Dîner en Blanc. I remember when I first saw friends attending the Le Dîner en Blanc in Bryant Park in 2013. I was like, “oh, that’s cute. A big dinner party. I love dinner parties.”
I didn’t realize it was this big of a deal even when it came to Baltimore for the first time this past summer. After receiving the email and reading the email in its entirety, I really don’t see why anyone would want to attend.
You have to buy a ticket, bring your own table and chairs, bring your own food, your own wine, and bring your own trash bags all while being dressed in white. The only people who like themed parties are people who can’t dress.
I had no idea to attend the party, I had to bring the party.
Like, y’all really walking around with a table and trash bags while wearing all white to attend a dinner party that you brought everything to? Why wouldn’t you just hold your own dinner party because that’s essentially what you’re doing.
I’m not trying to sound like a killjoy but honestly, truly, too many people want to be apart of something that they fall for okey-doke. And this event has been going on for 28 years!
For one, at my age, I don’t pay for any party or event. And any event worth attending should be free ninety nine. There are plenty events that I would be cool with going out my way for, like, partying with Drake and OVO Mark. But even still, I wouldn’t pay for it.
