We all love Rih-Rih and we waited forever (Cardi B voice) for her Fenty Beauty collection. But as the collection debut, it’s looking like 50 shades of beige. I didn't realize it was going to have so many shades of white. I really did expect more browns. While her Killawatt Freestyle Highlighters are everythang, especially, Trophy Wife, I would have loved to see more olive toned browns and blue blacks in her foundation collection.
As if we really need more "variety" of white shades? But I'm not surprised because the company who is behind the line is also behind Kat Von D's line and Marc Jacob's line.
Kendo Brands is their parent company similar to how Seed Beauty is the parent company of Colourpop and Kylie's company.
The infamous photo:
I was SO excited and SO hyped about this and I thought, yasss, we are finally gonna get more brown shades than white but...we didn't.
I get it, she is a global star, the line isn’t just for Black women, and Black women come in all shades but it just looks like any other foundation shade range except for the three darkest colors.
The way that people were going on about her foundation shade ranges, we (darkskin makeup consumers) expected her to delve more into the dark skin shades. Those dark shades are standard.
The internet streets have mentioned that they will release more shades later on and that's the whole problem. Dark skin makeup users always have to wait for "later releases" for brands instead of just having them when the product is first launched. With RiRi's brand-I thought she wouldn't do that.
Whelp, I’ve learnt another lesson about hype today. Let me go cry in a corner.
