The year is 2002 and I’m riding around Baltimore with my high school boyfriend, my best friend, and my boyfriend’s best friend. We’re on a double date. We are going to chill at his house, this is pre- "Netflix and Chill" where you had to find something on TV to watch or you better have had an intensive collection of DVDS. But before we head to his house, we stop by the movie theater- my mom doesn’t believe we’re going to the movies so she asked me to bring back the ticket stubs. Smart woman, even smarter teenager cause I asked two strangers standing outside the theater for their stubs. They obliged.
In hindsight, it was a lot of work for a high school boyfriend who you find out is sleeping with your best friend. High school sucks for everyone, Hannah Baker. I said of all that to say that Bebe has officially announced it will be closing all 170 of its stores and focusing on online retail instead. Associates at multiple locations said final sales have already began and most shops will close their doors for good by May 31st.
Like my high school boyfriend, Bebe was a huge part of my high school life. Remember when the Kardashian sisters and Mischa Barton had collaborations for Bebe? Bebe was a 2000s mall staple but it’s an end of era, yall.
Speaking of the '99 & the 2000s, Steve Madden is bringing back his slinky slides. This summer will look like an episode of Clueless. You can pre-order the slinky here.
