#np "Smile" by Wale featuring Phil Ade
Wale is putting in that werq. Over the summer, he put out his mixtape, "Summer On Sunset," which I honestly needed a few listens to really dig. I'm so over LA- I'm more of an "Empire State of Mind" fly girl.
His "PYT" was my joint but I was impartial to "Two Reasons" (shoutout to Eric Bellinger tho- I love him! His "Eventually" mixtape is my ish and have you heard his E-Mix to "Black Beatles"?).
But fast-forward to the fall, Wale hit fans with "Heisman Watch" and "Black Is Gold."
Wale's back with a feel good track entitled "Smile" that hits us with political undertones and that new father swag (think Jay Z's "Glory" featuring B.I.C.). With an assist from moe Phil Ade, Wale is proving that he is the young, Black African rapper putting DMV on the map. And how cute, is the cooing from his infant daughter at the end of the track?
I see you, Wale. Listen below.
