Foxy: The Complete Pam Grier Collection:

Starting today and through Sunday, the Film Society of Lincoln Center is screening all of iconic film and TV star Pam Grier’s movies. Grier will also be appearing at a few of the screenings, including tonight’s  screening of Jackie Brown, which will be preceded by a Q&A between Grier and Simon Doonan. Fly Event: Girls’ Night Out at the Rebecca Minkoff Sample Sale

I hope the hoarders went to the Rebecca Minkoff sample sale earlier in the week, leaving the sane people a chance to grab a discounted MAC Daddy bag. To celebrate another successful sample sale, designer Rebecca Minkoff will host a Girls’ Night Out tonight at the sample sale location, 260 Fifth Avenue. Ms. Minkoff herself will be on-site from 5:30PM to 6:00PM and you can also enjoy champagne, wine and sweet treats while you shop.

Fly Fashion: Three crucial sales happening at the same d*mn time! (UPDATED!!)

Sandy has put a damper (no pun intended) on this week’s sample sales.  According to Madison Ave Spy, Manolo Blahnik has cancelled its sale this week and the Louboutin sale which was supposed to start this morning has been postponed until this Wednesday, November 7th through Tuesday, November 12th. The Alexander Wang sale will continue to go on as planned, starting tomorrow, November 6th and will run until Saturday, November 10th.

Madison Ave Spy also reports that the Loubie sale- which is always invite only is now being organized by appointment. Invitees were told that they could not bring guests and were asked not to forward the email. Geez Louise!

Fly Fashion: The Christian Louboutin Sale Happens in Two Weeks

I was really hoping that this sale was coming mid-November like last year so I’d have more time to stack my coins. Nevertheless, I’m excited about picking up a pair or two. This sale is invite only, with a strict door policy but I believe my fly girls are tenacious and creative so where there’s a will, there’s a way into a Louboutin sale.

Dolls- are you prepared to brave the cold this week? The YSL sample sale starts tomorrow, along with Club Monaco and then on Thursday, the rock and roll chic brand Zadig & Voltaire sample sale begins.

This sale is probably the last chance to grab stock that still states, “Yves” on the label.

Fly Fashion: YSL Sample Sale Returns on October 23rd

Shoes from the last sale

As soon as the last YSL sample sale was over in June, Hedi Slimane (star designer who took over the French fashion house last March) dropped the Y. So due to Silmane set on revamping the company’s image this will probably be the last chance to grab stock that still states, “Yves” on the label.

The sale is cut short by a day and of course, you should totally get there early. I was in line by 6:00AM in June and there were still about 60 people in front of me.

Fly Fashion: Dolce & Gabbana Sample Sale is Going on Today

Sorry ladies, men are not included in the sale.

At the last Dolce & Gabanna sale, the most recent merchandise was priced at 50% off. This time, markdowns are expected to run the same. Older merchandise (2010, 2011) may be discounted up to 80% off.

The sale runs until Sunday and markdowns start towards the end date.

Fly Fashion: The Week of Disappointing Sales

Proenza Schouler Sample Sale

The past week and a half I have found myself waking up early, heading to these sample sales and walking away with nothing. From last week’s Barney’s Warehouse sale and DKNY sale to today’s Proenza Schouler sample sale.

Each sale has been over-priced and filled with clothes that you would only purchase because you had money to blow and not because you truly loved the items. The highlight of the last week and half has been seeing my girls Claudia and Claire of WreakHavocNY at each sale and my sample sale BFF and style adviser, Delecia of the forthcoming fashion blog, Style De La Creme.

Getting up at the crack of dawn today to head to Soho for the Proenza Schouler sale wasn’t a total bust because as I was heading back to the train, I noticed LF was having it’s only sale of the season. The entire store was 60% off and all heels and wedges were priced at $48.

The LF sale was too good to be true! Jeffrey Campbell Litas for only $48 bucks? Now that is a steal. This is the sale to stock up on shorts, knits, and dresses that can be layered for the fall season. I walked out with a pair of shoes, silk shorts, a clutch and a knit sweater for the price of one lackluster- two seasons ago-couldn’t even sell on the website- item at the Barney’s sale.

The Proenza Schouler sale ends tomorrow and my advice would be to skip it unless you’re into $475 shorts or a camera bag for $330. The Barney’s sale continues until September 3rd and hopefully markdowns have occurred along with new merchandise.

Fly Fashion: Start Saving for Next Month’s Hermès Sample Sale

In March, Hermès cancelled its sample sale with no explanation so fashionistas wondered if this season’s sale was really going to happen. Alas according to Mizhattan, the Hermès sample sale returns next month on September 5th.

And because Hermès decided to skip this year’s March sale, there is hope that there will be tons of merchandise. My best advice is to take the next few weeks to save and prepare for the mayhem that is called the Hermès sample sale.

Mizhattan also has detailed accounts of past Hermès sales, March ’11 & Sept. ’11 that include what kind of merchandise to expect and the prices.

DKNY will hold its very first-ever sample sale at the end of this month. The sale starts August 21st and runs for five days through Saturday, August 25th. Women’s and men’s apparel, shoes, and accessories will all be marked down to 70% off at 260 Fifth Avenue.
