Fly Fashion: Beyonce Makes First Post-Pregnancy Appearance

7 Feb

Beyonce Post Baby

Beyonce
Temperley London

It’s totally unfair how B can rock a jersey dress one month after having Blue Ivy. Beyonce makes her first public appearance, in support of her husband Jay-Z, at his Carnegie Hall benefit show last night in New York. She chose an Alice Temperley dress, an Alexander McQueen clutch and red bottoms. I love how the dress transforms into a rouched skirt and shows off her figure in all the right places.

And the blue mani in honor of her daughter is adorable!

You too can own this dress for $395, available online at temperleylondon.com

Fly Event: Valentine’s Day Celebration with Bilal @ SOB’s

7 Feb

Bilal Valentine's Day

I had the opportunity to interview Bilal on Valentine’s Day in 2009 while in Washington, D.C., and as I read back on the interview, I remember how much fun he was and how he was just genuine and honest. His down- to- earth personality and genuineness is reflected in his music which is why I am such a huge fan of his. Next Tuesday, Bilal will perform at SOB’s for an intimate Valentine’s Day show.

SOB’s is also offering a couples dinner package, with a three- course meal of deliciousness! Try their grilled ginger lime snapper in a banana leaf with rum glazed sweet potatoes and coconut raisin slaw. The package also includes a bottle of wine, check out the menu in its entirety here.

Bilal + a three-course meal + a bottle of vino = Happy Valentine’s Day!

I love when a designer doesn’t take themselves too serious. RAP L.A. is a clothing and accessories line with a sense of humor and every piece makes a statement. The line has also designed costumes for Nicki Minaj. Check their “Makin’ Loot” bootie shorts (a la Louis Vuittion ), “Lucky Charms”  bracelet and the “Hoodrat” necklace.

Fly Music: Video: Madonna’s “Gimme All Your Luvin”

3 Feb

As promised the visual for Madonna’s “Gimme All Your Luvin” has just been released. I love how the material girl uses Nicki and M.I.A. as back-up singers/dancers stamping how she is the original pop star. I love the video and I want Nicki’s ADIDAS top! Let’s go Giants!

Fly Music: Preview: Madonna Ft. Nicki Minaj x M.I.A. “Give Me All Your Luvin”

The full song and video will hit airways tomorrow, but if you can’t wait here is a 90 second clip of Madonna’s comeback single. They perform live at Sunday’s Superbowl game. Since my beloved Ravens missed a 32-yard field goal and
dropped the ball (yeah, I’m still a little salty), let’s go Giants!

Fly Fashion: Jay-Z Will Have You Know That He Hasn’t Abandoned Rocawear

2 Feb

jay-z

Real talk- who wears Rocawear? In an exclusive interview in today’s WWD, the company’s executives did some damage control in which they asserted that Jay-Z is still fully invested (he’s just renewed his contract to endorse the label for another three years, and still owns 51 percent stake in Roc Apparel, the men’s licensee).

The company admits that the brand has been struggling but Ronnie DeMichael, the COO-CFO of Roc Apparel says that despite sales being “slightly” down in 2011, they’re now focused on expanding into European and Asian markets.

To show how fully invest he is, Jay will appear in a commercial for Rocawear, out later this month. The forthcoming commercial will be called “From Marcy to Madison Square,” and show black-and-white footage that follows Jay-Z’s rise from selling CDs out of the trunk of a car in Marcy Projects in Bedford-Stuyvesant to headlining concerts at Madison Square Garden. It’ll reportedly air on MTV, BET, and TNT during NBA basketball games.
