Now my chance to see my favorite movie on the big screen comes to fruition. BAM is featuring She’s Gotta Have It, Spike Lee’s debut of a sexually liberated Brooklyn chick, Nola Darling. She’s Gotta Have It plays on the notion of who controls a woman’s body and what truly makes a woman a hoe?
Next Monday, BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) will host a double feature part of the BAMcinématek series, Brooklyn Close-Up.
First enjoy author, filmmaker, and Brooklyn native Nelson George’s nonfiction paean, Brooklyn Boheme. Directed by Nelson George & Diane Paragas, Brooklyn Boheme highlights Ft. Greene as an epicenter for forward-thinking black culture in the 1980s and includes interviews with Spike Lee, Rosie Perez, Chris Rock, and more.
After an Q&A with Nelson George & Diane Paragas, enjoy, She’s Gotta Have It and see first hand Spike Lee’s fearless feature debut that took the world by storm.
Brooklyn Brewery will be on hand from 6:30 to 9:30pm offering samples of BAMboozle.
